Secondary research:
-For my secondary, I will be
finding information on how women superheroes are sexualized in movies and TV
shows- I will be looking at websites that support and contradicts what it
stated in the article, and once found, I will compare this research by taking a
look at other superhero characters and how they are compared differently in the
media.
-Another secondary that I
will look into is the popularity of Superhero movies, especially in the last
two years (2016-2018) and see which is the most popular. This would allow me to
look into with the idea of the superhero fatigue stated in the article and to
support or contradict it.
-Another secondary research
that I will look into are the films produced by both Marvel and DC. In this
research, I will be analysing who is the most successful film franchise and how
money their movies and production sales make each year. Since they are the two
biggest movie franchises in the world, their film sales would also help me to
support/contradict the idea of superhero fatigue.
In the article, it states
that 'consumers are becoming bored with an overabundance of superhero movies that would lead to an imminent decline in the box office figures'. To prove if this research is trustworthy and accurate, I will be researching opinions from people online and the sales of superhero movies each year. If my research states that superhero movies are getting popular, then it means the research provided in the article is inaccurate.
-Another research that I will
look into as stated in the article is if Superhero movies have a negative
impact on society, especially young boys. To see
if the quote used in the article is trustworthy or bias and if the characters
in Superhero movies have a negative impact on children, I will gather some
research to compare and analyse.
Primary research:
For my first primary research
I will be doing a Survey.
A survey will allow me to get quantitative research in which I will use to
compare with the qualitative and quantitative research based in the article. I
would be asking the target audience questions such as: if they still read comic
books, if they are male or female, and which superhero movie franchise they
prefer out of Marvel and DC etc. These type of questions will allow me to
compare with most of my secondary research and most of the research presented
in the article as it would give me a clear understanding if my research
contradicts with it or if the secondary presented is bias or not.
For my second primary
research I will be doing an Interview. With an interview, it will allow me to ask
broader question to people such as: If people still read comics, their
reactions and also views on superhero movies (ties in with the superhero
fatigue on superheroes’ becoming boring). By going up to people and asking them
questions, it will allow me to compare most importantly the quantitative
research based in the article.
For my third primary research
I will be doing an Observation.
In the article, it states that superhero movies have a negative impact on
mostly young boys, so to test it out, I will be showing a couple of young boys
a fight scene from a superhero movie. If they react violently to it afterwards,
it means that the research in the article is trustworthy and very reliable, but
if they don’t react at all, it means that the research is false.
